Sight Beyond Seeing
An Excerpt from a Novel
“Damn it, Grandma. This isn’t making any sense,” Clair groaned as she flipped through the various documents scattered across the table. “Just what kind of trouble were you up to before you disappeared?” Her pale fingers traced over a term that showed up constantly throughout the pages. “The Amber Eye,” she murmured to herself, “What is that?”
She noticed all of the odd stares she was getting from the other patrons of the café. In response, she merely turned away from them all with a grunt and went straight back to work searching through the papers. A group of three older women entered the establishment, gossiping incoherently. Clair immediately decided to tune these women out.
